Literary Evening Devoted to the Memory of Jewish Men of Arts and Culture

This year we celebrate 75 years' anniversary since creation of literary and historical books-series "Life of Remarkable People". Literary evening devoted to this date was held in RCC on 17 March, this year.
Presenting our Moscow Guest the RCC director told that Matvey Geizer is a prolific writer, publicist and Philology Doctor, who devoted decades of his scientific and creative life to an important issue – studying place and role of Jewish writers, scientists and actors in the cultural and social life of modern Russia. M. Geizer is the author of three popular historical-memoir books from the series "RPL" "Life of Remarkable People". They are "Mikhoels", "Marshak" and "Utjesov". The last book, published in Moscow last month, arouse a special interest of public.
Israeli colleagues - the men of letters, such as Aleksey Speransky-Marshak (a grandson of Samuel Marshak), a famous Russian-Israeli writer Anatoly Aleksin a doctor and writer L. Agulyansky spoke about M. Geizer and his creative work.
A film producer Efim Goltsman spoke about cooperation with M. Geizer, who became both the initiator of creating and the script writer of documentary movie "The Splinters of the Murdered Theatre". The movie narrates about the high and tragic fate of a great Soviet Jewish actor Solomon Mikhoels (1890-1948), and about his State Jewish Theatre.
Movie demonstration, followed by a discussion about complicated destinies of Jewish culture in Russia ended this evening.
