Festival "Mozart and Tchaikovsky" - 27-30th Oct 2008
Topic: Children's Festival
Festival "Mozart and Tchaikovsky" From 27 to 30 October the 3rd International Children's Festival "Mozart and Tchaikovsky" was held in Israel. A large delegation of young talented performers from Russia – the students of prestigious Central Musical School at Moscow Conservatory named after P. I. Tchaikovsky  had arrived in Israel for participation in the first Israeli-Russian Musical Festival of such a level.  Dr. of Arts, Professor Alexander Yakupov - the principle of Central Musical School in Moscow headed this delegation. Russian Ambassador to Israel P.V. Stegniy – a great assessor of musical culture, warmly welcomed the delegation in his residence on the first day of its arrival. The Ambassador supported the idea of holding Festival in Israel – the country, where classical music has always been valued and skillfully performed. He wished young performers success and new interesting meetings with their colleagues and coevals. An opening ceremony started in the evening of October 28 in Russian Cultural Center in Tel Aviv.  The members of Diplomatic Corpse , Knesset members,  musicians, creative unions' representatives, journalists and classical music lovers came to listen to young Russian and Israeli musicians.  RCC Director, A. A. Kryukov opened the ceremony. He stressed that nothing but mutual cultural creativity of children – our future generation and new open world creators, brings nations and cultures together.  Israeli delegation of Festival participants consisted of young talents from several cities. They had been selected according to recommendations of authoritative and famous local musicians and music experts who closely cooperate with RCC. B. P. Izmailov – an honorable activist of Russian culture, presented Russian Center of International and Cultural Cooperation (Moscow). He told about the history of this Festival and about its previous concerts in Moscow and Viena. Then fascinating sounds of music filled the hall… Russian and Israeli musicians brilliantly performed the most complicated compositions by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Davidov, Sarasate and other prominent Russian and foreign composers. The audience enthusiastically welcomed each young virtuoso and demanded performing once more. At the end of the concert all participants of this unique performance were decorated with certificates of merit and presents from RCC and Festival organizers. The second Festival concert was held on October 29 in a big Israeli city Rishon Le-Tsion. Russian and Israeli musicians performed in one of the best city's concert halls "Yad Le-Banuim". Lots of music lovers, who already knew about the first concert in Tel Aviv from media, gathered there. Mikhail Ralf – a municipality member and a leader of All-Russian Countrymen Community in Israel greeted young performers. This was another triumph of young Israeli-Russian musicians. It was also a real esthetical enjoyment for the audience and a hot reception with lasting applause and a sea of flowers for performers. During their short stay in Israel young Russian guests in spite of a very busy program still managed to make a tour along Tel-Aviv and Jaffa, and also visit Jerusalem.

Literary Evening Devoted to the Memory of Jewish Men of Arts and Culture

This year we celebrate 75 years' anniversary since creation of literary and historical books-series "Life of Remarkable People". Literary evening devoted to this date was held in RCC on 17 March, this year.

Presenting our Moscow Guest the RCC director told that Matvey Geizer is a prolific writer, publicist and Philology Doctor, who devoted decades of his scientific and creative life to an important issue – studying place and role of Jewish writers, scientists and actors in the cultural and social life of modern Russia. M. Geizer is the author of three popular historical-memoir books from the series "RPL" "Life of Remarkable People". They are "Mikhoels", "Marshak" and "Utjesov". The last book, published in Moscow last month, arouse a special interest of public.

Israeli colleagues - the men of letters, such as Aleksey Speransky-Marshak (a grandson of Samuel Marshak), a famous Russian-Israeli writer Anatoly Aleksin a doctor and writer L. Agulyansky spoke about M. Geizer and his creative work.

A film producer Efim Goltsman spoke about cooperation with M. Geizer, who became both the initiator of creating and the script writer of documentary movie "The Splinters of the Murdered Theatre". The movie narrates about the high and tragic fate of a great Soviet Jewish actor Solomon Mikhoels (1890-1948), and about his State Jewish Theatre.

Movie demonstration, followed by a discussion about complicated destinies of Jewish culture in Russia ended this evening.
