Head of the RCC Tel Aviv, Dr Aleksander Kryukov meets Secretary General of the EAEK, Mikhail Chlenov

Contacts were intensified recently in the Russian Cultural Center in Tel Aviv during a meeting of the representative [Roszarubezhtsentr] in Israel, Director Dr Alexander Kryukov and the Secretary General of the Eurasian Jewish Congress EAEK , prominent Jewish public figure and scientist Mikhail Chlenov (Moscow).
The Head of the RKC-RCC Tel Aviv greeted the guest on behalf of roszarubezhtsentr, showed him
around the center and acquainted the guest with the common directions of the RKC-RCC work in the sphere of culture, teaching of the Russian language, information and development of public- cultural connections with the public and professional creative associations of Israel.
The expanding of fruitful collaboration between the RKC-RCC representation and the veterans unions of Israel and the associations of descendants from the USSR- CIS was discussed in great length.
In turn, the Secretary General described the history of the EAEK's creation (2002), the structure and the basic public- information and the activities of the EAEK , which now counts more than 1100 Jewish organizations of 30 countries of the CIS and the Asian-Pacific region. The Secretary General of the EAEK emphasized that the important aspect of the activity of this representative organization is the development of interfaith dialogue with the Christian and Moslem community. Mr Chlenov quoted the President of the EAEK, the leader of the Jewish congress of Kazakhstan Alexander Mashkevich, who recently stated that EAEK is confident that the dramatic events, which occur today in the Near East, do not serve any strategic interests of neither Islam nor Judaism.
In completion of the meeting the Leader of the Russian Cultural Center in Tel Aviv [Roszarubezhtsentr] and the Secretary General of the EAEK agreed to continue their contacts and outlined some general directions for future collaboration in the cultural sphere.
